《社会研究方法》是美国大学通用的社会学教材，被译成多国文字，是一本具有世界声誉的经典之作，1975年初版刚一面试即引起学术界关注。
艾尔·巴比 (Earl R. Babbie)（http://ebabbie.net），美国著名社会学家。毕业于哈佛大学，后应征加入美国海军陆战队。在获得加州大学伯克利分校博士学位后开始了社会学教学工作，并著有包括畅销教材《社会研究方法》在内的多部著作。
